Mechanism

The horizontal component of lift supplies centripetal acceleration. More speed requires more radius at the same bank angle.

Aircraft response

Doubling true airspeed quadruples radius at a fixed bank in this model. Increasing bank reduces radius while increasing level-turn load factor.
